As of October 1st, 2020 10 Cents a Meal funding was increased from $575,000 to $2 million. For the first time, schools across the entire state, instead of pilot regions, are eligible to apply. And also eligible for the first time are sponsors of early childhood education centers that are successfully participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

The 10 Cents a Meal for Michigan’s Kids & Farms application is now open!

If you are a school district interested in the program, check for an email from the Michigan Department of Education sent Monday, October 12. It will include a link to the application.

If you are an early childhood education center interested in the program, check with your CACFP sponsor, and make sure your sponsor has seen the same October 12 email from the Michigan Department of Education. You can find more resources on our Tools for Schools page, and at MSU Center for Regional Food Systems.

There will be a two-week turn around to submit completed applications. The deadline is Monday, October 26 at 9 a.m.

For questions about the application, please contact Liana Bennett, or Jaime Malnar,

The application is competitive.  The more thorough your application response is, the better chance you will have to be granted funds.
